This research aims to (1) describe various Islamic oral traditions in Surakarta; (2) describe the religious aspects of Islamic oral traditions in Surakarta. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method based on inductive thinking methods. Research data is in the form of soft data, namely words, phrases, sentences, and discourses in oral traditions that contain religious aspects. Data collection uses library techniques, in-depth interviews, and observations. Data analysis is carried out using an interactive model that includes data presentation, data reduction, and data verification/conclusions and uses a semiotic model reading method including heuristic and hermeneutic reading in its meaning. The results of the research and its discussion: (1) Various Islamic oral traditions in Surakarta include: (a) praise (after the call to prayer and before iqamat/congregational prayer in the mosque); (b) singing dhikr; (c) qiraah/tilawatil Quran (The Art of Reading the Quran); (d) reading al-Barzanji (Making Promises/Making Promises); (e) tadarrus al-Quran binnadhar (reading by looking at the Quran) and bil ghaib (reading by memorizing/tahfidz); (2) Religious aspects in the Islamic oral tradition in Surakarta include: (a) the importance of balance between worldly life and the afterlife; (b) daring to introspect (admitting one's mistakes); (c) there are five medicines for the heart (tombo ati ana lima); (d) humans are weak creatures; (e) God is a place for humans to rely on; (f) God is omnipotent over all things.
