This study describes the application of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach in Indonesian language learning through the analysis of the intrinsic elements of the Goa Batu Hapu legend. The research employed a case study method conducted at SMKN 1 Binuang, involving Class X GP A students. The main objective was to examine the integration of local folklore, rich in Banjar cultural values, into the learning process to enhance the relevance of learning materials, student engagement, and appreciation of cultural identity. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis, including lesson plans and student work. The findings reveal that implementing CRT based on folklore fosters a more inclusive, interactive, and meaningful learning environment. Students demonstrated improved understanding of literary intrinsic elements, stronger text analysis skills, and greater awareness and pride in their local culture. These findings highlight the importance of adopting teaching strategies that are responsive to students’ cultural backgrounds, particularly in the context of vocational education.
